A Letter from Mary T. Damicone
For many years, I felt teaching was my calling. In addition to raising four children, I taught English
at area high schools and at The University of Akron. However, after going through a divorce at age 47, my life suddenly changed.
As far as employment opportunities, many doors remained closed because of my lack of recent experience. Fortunately, my divorce
and unemployed status allowed me to explore something I had always wanted to study -- the U.S. judicial system.
After opening up my own practice, I realized that helping my clients through challenging circumstances was the most rewarding
aspect of being a lawyer. Since that time, I have developed strong relationships with many people in the community and watched
my law practice grow in the process.
As an attorney, I continued to reap a high sense of satisfaction in assisting others by helping them understand their options
when facing difficult situations. I find this experience gratifying because I often assist my clients in managing their priorities
more effectively, thereby, minimizing the stress in their personal and professional lives.
